§ a midnight labs instrument

Consilium sharpens your point of view in private.

Senior roles turn on how you see the problem: what you defend in the room, what you leave unsaid, what story others hear. Consilium is a simple, structured writing habit that keeps your stance clear to you over years, not days. Not a course, not a dashboard, not a coaching app. Some organisations include seats in a longer partnership with Midnight Labs; we also sell a small number of seats directly each phase.

concept

A private instrument for one leader, for a long time.

Most executive tools chase volume: more meetings cleared, more messages sent. Consilium chases clarity. A small amount of writing, on the same day each week, read slowly, returned to across quarters and years.

Each week you answer a light structure: what you're claiming about the situation, what you're not saying aloud, who you're aligned with and where you're hedging, and what would change your mind. The instrument doesn't score you. It holds the thread so your own re-reads can do the work.

Every quarter you sit with that thread yourself first, then with a blind peer panel of other members who read anonymised slices and write back in plain language. You read theirs in return. The output isn't a leaderboard. It's a sharper sense of how your point of view is landing, where it's thin, and what you're repeating without noticing.

It will not make you faster. It will, if you keep it, make it harder to fool yourself about what you actually believe when the room goes quiet.

design stance

We removed notifications, scores, and social feeds on purpose. No gamification, no "versus peers," no HR visibility. The only readers are you and a small rotating panel, on paper you can sit with.

mechanics

Four parts of the instrument.

01 · capture

Weekly stance capture. Six minutes, not sixty.

The same short fields every week so the record compares across months: the frame you're operating in, the tension you're carrying, the counter-case you're avoiding, one thing you'd concede if forced. Miss a week and the gap is visible. The tool does not nag.

02 · re-read

Quarterly self re-read before anyone else weighs in.

Consilium surfaces the quarter's captures with a fixed set of prompts: where your story stayed stable, where it wobbled, which commitments you soft-pedalled, which risks you kept off the page. You answer in writing. That file is yours; it also becomes the baseline for the peer slice.

03 · peer panel

Blind reads from three other members.

Three other Consilium members (anonymous both ways) read one slice of your quarter and write a short reaction: where your point of view felt strongest, where it read thin, what question they wished you'd answered. You do the same for three slices from others. Nobody sees aggregate scores. Everyone sees sentences.

04 · through-line

A private arc of how your framing moves over time.

Across the year the instrument holds a light map: recurring blind spots, phrases that show up whenever you're cornered, moments your stated frame and your described behaviour diverge. It's for noticing drift in your point of view, not for proving decision quality to a committee.

Nothing leaves your account. Nothing goes to your employer. It's a practitioner's notebook with a spine.

membership

Who this is for, and who it isn't.

this is for
  • Senior operators (CXOs, GMs, heads of) whose work is mostly framing, alignment, and narrative risk
  • People who want their point of view to sharpen across years, not across a single offsite
  • Those who can write briefly and honestly about what they're actually claiming in the room
  • Leaders whose organisations already hold an ongoing Midnight Labs partnership that includes seats
this is not for
  • Anyone who wants a decision-quality dashboard or KPI pack
  • People looking for coaching, community threads, or career advice
  • Anyone who needs their L&D team or manager in the loop
  • Teams. Consilium is one seat, one thread, on purpose.

Four seats remaining in phase 04.

Consilium opens in cohorts. Each cohort is capped at 18 members so the peer rotation stays human and the backend stays small. Phase 04 opens in Q3 2026; four seats remain at the time of writing.

Seats are either included in an annual Midnight Labs partnership or sold as a standalone annual membership. Either way, we read a short note from every prospective member before a seat is offered.
